Jagityal Jagtial Municipality was constituted in the year 1952 as 3rd grade Municipality and upgraded to Grade-II by the Government vide G.O.Ms.No.242 M.A., Dated: 2-5-1984 and further upgraded to Grade-I municipality by the Government vide GO Ms. No. 728, Dt: 22.12.2009.
Jagtial town is located at 180 48’ north latitude and 780-54 of eastern longitude in the northern part of Karimnagar district head quarter. It is one of the most important town in the Karimnagar district having 24 mandals. The total area of the town is 16.00 Sq.Kms and the population of the town is as per 1991 census is 67,591, 85,521 as per 2001 census and 103962 as per 2011 census including outgrowth. It is situated at a distance of 210 km to the northwest of the Hyderabad and 52 Km to the north west of the Karimnagar on the bus route. Apart from that it is also having head quarter hospital, Degree College, Junior college, and other Government and private education institutions. It is also an important commercial and industrial centre in the district by the virtue of it accessibility in respect of National High Way No.16 i.e. Nizambad to Jagdalpur via Jagtial it is surrounded by Metpally and korutla on the west, Siricilla and Vemulwada on the south and Dharmapuri mandal is situated on the Northern side of Jagtial town. Sreeram Sagar Main canal is passing adjoining Jagtial town. Besides this the town is rapidly increasing with industries like Rice Mills, Dal Mills. Beedi Industry.
